Quality to Last a Lifetime
At SUBLIMA, I love making classic, striking jewelry that’s made to last. That's why I use tarnish-resistant brass (when polished, it closely resembles 14k gold) and sterling silver — plus, all of the casted brass and sterling silver is sustainable and recycled. I don't use plating, so nothing will wear away over time, and all metals are certified and free of cadmium, lead, bismuth, beryllium and other toxic metals.
I also provide a complimentary polishing cloth with each piece — its special micro-abrasive cleansing agents will keep your jewelry shiny.
My Materials
Recycled Brass: I use a bright yellow version of the metal that resembles 14k gold when polished. Brass is a copper and zinc alloy. The version I use has a lower level of copper, which makes the brass more resistant to tarnish. Plus, the brass is recycled and sustainable. See below for more details.
Recycled Deoxidized Sterling Silver: The sterling silver I use has a white color and high resistance to tarnish. It's also recycled and sustainable. See below for more details.
Recycled Metals: The metals I use are sourced from a New York-based refiner called United Precious Metal Refining, Inc., which is certified for products with 100% recycled content. Metal recycling conserves natural resources, energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
Gold, Gold-Filled, Gold-Plated and Sterling Silver Findings: I aim to use either solid gold, gold-filled or sterling silver earring posts, earring backings, necklace chain and clasps. A gold-filled item can be worn daily and last without tarnish for years because it’s made with a solid layer of gold constituting 5% of the item’s weight. (This differs from gold plating, which is more common and refers to a thinner layer of gold that’s applied to the surface of another metal.) The only gold-plated component I use is gold-plated brass rounded Venetian box chains.
Jewelry Care Tips
The result is that jewelry can appear less shiny, which is why I provide a free polishing cloth with every piece. It's the most effective and efficient after testing all the DIY options (like soaking or scrubbing using lemon juice or baking soda with a toothbrush).
All it takes is one minute to polish your jewels to their original shine using the polishing cloth that comes with your jewelry. It has special cleansing agents that are micro-abrasive and it polishes without scratching.
Use the polishing cloth on SUBLIMA components that are 100% recycled brass or recycled sterling silver. Avoid using the polishing cloth on components that are gold-filled or gold-plated.
Everyone's body chemistry and environment is different, but it may be helpful to give your jewelry a wipe down every few months. When you're not wearing your jewelry, you can store it in the velvet baggie that comes with it, to limit oxidation.
If you lost your polishing cloth or need a new one, email me at hey@sublimajewelry.com and I can send another one in the mail free.
- Apply lotion, perfume or hairspray before putting on your jewelry.

Instructions for Individual Pieces
Baby Boba Ear Cuff: There are two ways to wear this ear cuff. The cuff fits best when nestled in the lower conch area of the ear. The side with more detail should be worn at the front of your ear, and the drippy end can point up or down—it'll go on the right ear when facing up, or the left ear when facing down. Bend it to fit your ear shape, and for maximum comfort without pinching. Watch this video for a tutorial.
Decorative Edge Spiral Ring: This ring is adjustable, but once you adjust to your size, I recommend not bending it too much after.
Acme Ring: This ring is adjustable, but once you adjust to your size, I recommend not bending it too much after.
Yves Knuckle Ring: This ring is adjustable, but once you adjust to your size, I recommend not bending it too much after.
Mesh Asian Pear Ring: This piece comes with a special polishing cloth that has a rough side and a smooth side. Use the rough side to polish the base of the pear, which is a matte/satin finish. Use the smooth side to polish the mesh on top of the pear, which is a high-polish finish.
Oyster Hoops: Because of how I designed these earrings, there is an ideal left earring and right earring so that the carved/detailed sides show more from the front. Put these earrings on with the carved/detailed sides facing inward, toward your face (not outward, away from your face). That way when they're on, they will sit at a 45-degree angle and you can see the carved/detailed sides (vs. the smooth back sides). See this photo for an example.
Tofu Skin Hoops: Because of how I designed these earrings, there is an ideal left earring and right earring so that the carved/detailed sides show more from the front. Put these earrings on with the carved/detailed sides facing inward, toward your face (not outward, away from your face). That way when they're on, they will sit at a 45-degree angle and you can see the carved/detailed sides (vs. the smooth back sides). See this photo for an example.
Xiaolongbao Soup Dumpling Hoops: Because of how I designed these earrings, there is an ideal left earring and right earring so that the carved/detailed sides show more from the front. Put these earrings on with the carved/detailed sides facing inward, toward your face (not outward, away from your face). That way when they're on, they will sit at a 45-degree angle and you can see the carved/detailed sides (vs. the smooth back sides). See this photo for an example.
Double Happiness Leather Collar: Watch this video for instructions on how to put on and take off this necklace.
When you're putting on the necklace, make sure the left hook lies flat against your chest, and the right hook faces at a perpendicular angle to the chest. If you're wearing the necklace with the pendant, hook the right hook onto the pendant so that the right hook sits on top of the pendant. Then hook both the right hook and pendant onto the left hook. The left hook should sit at the bottom of the stack.
Be sure to squeeze both hooks a little for a secure fit. It's best not to bend the hooks too extremely too often, so find a sweet spot that allows the hooks to interlock securely but not be too difficult to take apart.
Equilibrium Choker: Use the polishing cloth on the pendant, but not the chains.
Scrunchie Cuff: The cuff is slightly adjustable; use a bit of force to pry it open or shut it more closed.
Space Age Cuff: The cuff is slightly adjustable; use a bit of force to pry it open or shut it more closed.
Lillian Cuff: The cuff is slightly adjustable; use a bit of force to pry it open or shut it more closed.
Eddie Cuff: This piece comes with a special polishing cloth that has a rough side and a smooth side. Use the rough side to polish the facade of the bracelet, which is a satin finish. Use the smooth side to polish the beveled edges of the bracelet, which have a high-polish finish.
